1.  Anything by the Irish writer John Connolly, whose wicked sense of humor and beautiful writing in his dark Charlie Parker books gets me every time.

2.  My fictional hero and avatar Clete Purcell in the books of the inimitable James Lee Burke.

3.  Music? Always The Pogues. Everything from the Vancouver Subhumans to The Offspring, from Trombone Shorty to Etta James to B.B. King and miles in between.

4.  Nick Cave's Red Hand Files.

 

5.  And of course a steaming mug of tea with everything. My fave? Any blend of Lovaré Teas.
